My biggest college fears

-Siddhi
College is usually a place that people dread mentally, even if they don’t show it. Everybody has college fears which may be due to the pressure of entering a completely new dimension, with new people, new syllabi, and more importantly, the deeper part of the subjects you’d been studying so far slowly starts settling in just a few days before the college is about to begin.
But honestly, these four years are where you learn more than you ever will have until then.

I am a third year Electronics student at Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, DY Patil Campus, Nerul. I was more than glad I landed this college because of what I’d read on StupidSid. Of course I knew nobody when I stepped in. My seniors or friends from school were not at RAIT which made me alone in the college, and just like any other loner, I was just as tensed. Believe me when I tell you that I hadn’t spoken to anyone for the first two weeks of college. But later, once you get comfortable with the surroundings and the people, it’s as good as a party. Attendance seldom becomes an issue here, unless you’re on bad terms with the faculty. Apart from that, I’ve never even realized how these 3.5 years were spent here!

How extra-curriculars bridged the gap

Technical and cultural committees here keep you going. I’ve been a part of a lot of event organizing teams for the technical and cultural fests, been responsible for the online publicity/content creation of my college fest under the Marketing Team and I’m currently working as an active member of the Social Wing, which just like Avanti, constantly yearns and works for a better and a developed society.

All of this simply adds up to your skills and socializing qualities, thus making you a better person at the end of your four years, and a completely different person from what you were when you first stepped in in that concrete building that went from being just a college to your second home!
