Here are a few tips on preparation for NEET by Avanti experts. We have compiled some subject wise tips and strategies which will help you to prepare better and not lag behind in any subject.

Physics

Absolute clarity in physics comes from practice. Understand the basics of the subject rather than memorizing the formulae. Be perfect with the concepts. It is a blunder to try and solve problems without being clear about concepts.

Most of the questions that now come in NEET are application based – which means your understanding of the concepts should be sound. You should also solve as many problems as you can to enhance your problem solving skills.

Analysis of previous year papers of NEET reveals that some topics are asked more frequently than others. In Physics, most important and frequently asked topics are mechanics, modern physics and electromagnetism.

This does mean you should leave other topics intentionally as other topics are also important, but make sure you study the above mentioned topics well to maximize your score.

Chemistry

Conceptual clarity is important in all subjects. Chemistry is no exception. Some questions that are asked in chemistry, especially inorganic chemistry, are direct and thus scoring. So revise your concepts of inorganic chemistry well. Numerical questions that are asked are not very complicated and can be solved easily if you know the correct formula to be applied. Remember all the formulae from physical chemistry.  Always attempt theoretical questions first and then questions which require calculation.

Analysis of previous years’ papers tells us that organic chemistry is always the major part in chemistry and questions in physical and inorganic chemistry vary.

  • Physical Chemistry
Most of the question in this section are application based and require the memorization of formulae and a little bit calculation. Go through all the chapters, study each and every formula and practice lots of questions.
  • Organic Chemistry
You should know all the Reactions well, how they proceed and most importantly, the mechanism they follow. Most of the questions in NEET are based on how well you understood the mechanism of the reaction.
  • Inorganic Chemistry
Most of the questions of this section are recall based. As the questions are direct out of the book, this section can easily fetch you 100% score. Devote more time in Inorganic if you are good at recalling concepts.
Biology
    1. The most important tip for scoring well in Biology would be keep reading the 11th & 12th NCERT Biology text books along with making notes of words that seem difficult to understand. In Biology approximately 60% questions are directly picked up from the NCERT and the remaining 40% are application based questions, where you may have a question linking the two chapters. So it’s not only important to remember facts but also to understand the concept behind it.
You need to know the NCERT by heart. Make sure you link concepts at the side of the page denoting where else does that particular concept repeat in other chapters.
    2. Solve at least 300 questions for each chapter till a point where you notice questions start repeating – After solving sufficient questions the most important step is to look for solutions in the NCERT for the questions that you attempted incorrectly. Keep evaluating yourself so that you don’t make the same mistakes in actual paper.
    3. Make a list of words that will help you understand the questions better. For eg. Erythro- means red, cyte- means cell so Erythrocytes means red blood cells. Arthro- means joints, itis- means inflammation so arthritis- means inflammation of joints.try breaking all difficult words in this manner, so that you don’t forget them in the exam and time beyond that!
    4. Human Psychology and Genetics have the highest weightage in Biology. However, each and every chapter of NCERT is important. At least one question is asked per chapter. So you cannot afford to leave out any chapter. However, depending on the length & importance of chapters, the number of questions in NEET paper per chapter may vary. You can check this the detailed analysis video for NEET in our app
    5. Do Not skip Ecology. Observing from the trend, 8 questions were asked from Ecology last year which were even less than the previous year giving us a hint that no section should be left untouched if you want to score well.
    6. While attempting the NEET exam, make sure you start with Biology section and quickly complete answering all the easy questions first and come back to the tougher ones a little later. Never get stuck at any question. If you know it, answer it and move on. If not, do not spend a lot of time on a single question. Move on to the next question and once you have completed answering all the questions that you know answer of, devote the remaining time to tougher questions which you didn’t understand initially.

Remember that success is not obtained in a day. It is a result of daily effort that you put in. Work towards your goal daily.

All the best!
