What makes JEE Main different from JEE Advanced?
Both the exams will take you to the top engineering college of India. But there are certain key differences that everyone must keep in mind while preparing for JEE.
- JEE Main works as the first step towards admissions into IITs and ISM Dhanbad. But only the top 2, 20,000 candidates who will crack JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Hence cracking JEE Main does not guarantee your admission to any IIT.
- JEE Main will take you to the various NITs and CFTIs and JEE advanced will take you to the IITs.
- Both JEE Main and JEE Advanced consist of two papers, however, there is much difference between them. JEE Main conducts Paper I in both offline and online mode for B.Tech courses and Paper II is held in offline mode for B.Arch. Either of the examination can be selected. JEE Advanced is conducted offline via Paper I and Paper II, both of which are compulsory to attend and qualify.
- JEE Main has a fixed pattern and is more speed focused and the questions are single option correct type objective problems whereas JEE Advanced judges the in-depth knowledge of the aspirants. The pattern is not fixed and it contains mostly of MCQ, Paragraph questions, Matrix Matches and more.
