NEET 2016 seat – NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is a national level examination which is responsible for the admission into MBBS and BDS courses. After qualifying this examination, you will be eligible to seek admission in various medical and dental colleges across the country. Tentatively, NEET is going to be conducted in the 1st week of May 2018, though an official notification is yet to be out. As per the Supreme Court’s directive on NEET counselling procedures, counselling is held in 2 rounds. Similarly, seat allotment result is also declared in two rounds i.e. after each counselling process. The first round of NEET 2016 seat allotment was conducted in the month of July and was conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The second seat allotment round is conducted in August. Candidates can check seat allotment both for individual and overall. Seat allotment for the Deemed and Central Universities is also released. The candidates who have been allotted seats must report to the allotted colleges within the prescribed dates. The counselling begins with the registration and choice filling for the first round. How to Check the NEET Exam AIR?
- Go to the official NEET website: http://cbseneet.nic.in/cbseneet
- Click on the link, ‘NEET Results 2017’
- Enter the required information viz. Seat Number, Date of Birth etc.
- After submitting, the results would be displayed on the screen.
- You are advised to take a print-out of the same for future reference.

NEET Cut off
The NEET cut off is the minimum possible marks one must secure to be eligible for the counselling rounds. The cut-offs are decided by the CBSE. A total of 6,11,739 were shortlisted for counselling based on the cut-off in the year 2017. The cut-off depends on various factors, like the number students appearing, difficulty level of the paper, number of seats available in the Medical and BDS colleges etc. In order to qualify for NEET 2017, a general category student had to secure a minimum 50 percentile, a SC/ST category student had to secure a minimum score of 40 percentile. Further, among the qualified students, top 15% scorers were directly eligible to participate in NEET 2017 counselling in 15% All India Quota (AIQ). To read further about NEET Cut off click here
NEET Seat Allotment process
- Mock Allotment: The mock allotment is done to make the candidates understand the seat allotment process.
- Candidates will be allotted the seats and they must log in to check.
- This seat allotment is not binding and candidates are allowed to modify their choices for the actual seat allotment.
- Candidates are advised to check the indicative seat allotment to understand how they can improve their allotment chances.
- NEET 2016 Seat Allotment Round 1: Candidates will be allotted the seats and they must log in to check.
- This is an actual seat allotment and would be binding.
- Those who have been allotted seats must download their provisional NEET Seat Allotment Letter.
- They should report to the allotted medical colleges with the prescribed documents and fees which would be mentioned in the seat allotment letter.
- They must pay the requisite fees to complete the admission process.
- Those who fail to report would lose their seat.
Willingness for Upgradation: Candidates who have confirmed their NEET seat allotment in the first round can apply for further upgradation for a better seat. They must change their willingness to ‘Yes to be considered for a higher choice of seat allotment’ in their choice filling during the NEET Counselling.
Withdrawal from NEET 2016 Seat Allotment process: Those who wish to withdraw from the seat allotted process must do so online. They would be asked for a confirmation with an OTP sent on the registered mobile number. They must enter the same to confirm their withdrawal. After the withdrawal they will not allowed to sit for further rounds.
NEET 2016 Seat Allotment Result Round 2
There will be no fresh choice filling in this round. The process will remain the same as the first round of seat allotment where candidates have to log in and download their seat allotment letter which is provisional until confirmation of their admission at the allotted college.
- The seat allotted in the first round would be cancelled, if a seat is allotted in this round.
- Candidates must have the relieving letter from college allotted from Round-1.
- Candidates must report to new college allotted to them and submit the required documents and the relieving letter.
- Candidates should confirm their admission by completing the necessary formalities.
- Upgradation in the same college is allowed but through a fresh admission. Such upgradation would be allowed only in case of category from reserved to general.
- The upgradation and willingness guidelines will remain the same for this round.
- Who is eligible for the NEET 2016 seat allotment 2nd round?
- Group-I: Registered candidates who were not given an allotment in the 1st round.
- Group-II: Registered candidates, for whom the allotment was cancelled on account of change of Category from reserved to Unreserved or PH status from Yes to No or from PH-1 to PH-2, which subject to eligibility in changed category. Candidates whose documents did not match the requirements of the reserved category during the document verification will fall in this group.
- Group-III: Candidates who have reported at allotted institute during 1st round of allotment and submitted willingness for second round up-gradation as Yes.
- Who are not eligible for NEET 2016 Seat Allotment 2nd?
- Candidates who have failed to report at allotted institute during the first round.
- Candidates who have withdrawn from the seat allotment process.
- Candidates who are ineligible because of change of category.
- Candidates who have not applied for up-gradation during the second round.
