Paper Analysis of NEET Previous Years
Weightage:
The year 2017 saw an equal weightage to both 11th and 12th syllabi. Though, Physics saw a slight imbalance, with 24 and 21 questions from 11th and 12th standards respectively. The paper housed 19 questions coming from Mechanics, 5 coming from Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory, 9 coming from Electrodynamics, 5 coming from Optics and Wave Optics and 7 coming from Modern Physics.
For Chemistry, 21 questions from the 11th standard and 24 questions from the 12th standard. The paper had 12 questions coming from Physical Chemistry, 14 coming from Organic Chemistry, 12 questions coming from Inorganic Chemistry and 4 questions coming from General Chemistry.
Biology was balanced with 46 and 44 questions coming from the 12th and 11th standards respectively. The paper housed 11 questions coming from Reproduction, 15 coming from Genetics and Evolution, 7 coming from Biology and Human Welfare, 4 coming from Biotechnology, 9 coming from Ecology, 11 coming from Diversity in Living Organisms, 7 coming from Structural Organization in Plants and Animals, 7 coming from Cell Structure and Function, 6 coming from Plant Physiology and 13 coming from Human Physiology.
Difficulty:
The difficulty level of NEET 2017 was moderate. Physics which is always perceived to be difficult in the NEET was of moderate difficulty, with a lot of questions being calculation intensive. Compared to last year it was slightly tougher and lengthier. Chemistry was again moderate in difficulty level. Most questions were conceptual and application based. Biology was moderately difficult and was no different from the last year. Again here, most questions were conceptual, so the one with strong conceptual base would definitely find it solvable.
